The UBC Learning Exchange is a welcoming community-based learning hub in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside that provides free educational programs for community members, diverse learning opportunities for students, and support for community-based research and knowledge exchange. One of its goals is to “Strengthen relationships with xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations and urban Indigenous communities. The Learning Exchange can help faculty and student researchers wanting to engage and partner with Downtown Eastside communities. The Learning Exchange leads the Making Research Accessible initiative, which has developed the DTES Research Access Portal, an online portal that links to research-related materials relevant to the DTES.
