In practice, the life cycle will not always unfold in the same sequence and you may want to attend to a specific phase at a different time than what is shown here.

The site includes a variety of content

See the terminology page for explanations of the terms used in research ethics applications and on these webpages (including how we define Indigenous-focused research).
- Information about completing your Indigenous-focused research ethics applications for the Behavioural Research Ethics Board (BREB) at UBC. The BREB plans to implement an Indigenous-focused ethics application in future and will adapt the content on this site accordingly.
- Information about how the BREB reviews and approves ethics applications
- Links to other academic institution web pages referencing Indigenous research initiatives and requirements
- Training for researchers and others involved in Indigenous focused research
Community connections
This section provides space for First Nations and Indigenous communities and organizations to share information and resources related to research protocols and preferred methods of interaction. We will seek permission from content owners before including links, so you will not see information here until it has been approved for inclusion.
